NICOLÁS CASTRO GRANADOS (COLOMBIA)

He started musical studies at the age of four, guided by his father, the symphonic and saxophonist conductor Rogelio Castro. Later, he continued his instrumental studies with professor César Villamil.

In 2016 he was invited by the Autonomous University of Mexico to participate in the Meeting of the University of Saxophone, with chamber music projects BogoSax Duet.

He presented concerts under the direction of great conductors such as: Frank de Vuyst, Rogelio Castro, Ricardo Jaramillo and others.

He has been an artist of Barkley Brasil mouthpieces since 2019 and currently continues his higher studies and interpretation at the Superior Conservatory of Castile and Spain under the tutelage of director Pablo Sánchez Escariche

From a very young age, he stood out for being a versatile and virtuous interpreter, winning awards of importance and recognition outside his career as an artist, both in academia how much popular, standing out in a course and events where we can encouter:


• Voted the best instrumentalist in the National Music Bands Competition La Vega (2013, 2015)
• Ganador del mejor instrumentalist in the National Competition of Bambuco not published in Tocancipá (2015, 2018).
• Third place in the Latin American Saxophone Contest organized by the Autonomous University of Mexico and award for the best interpretation of Latin American work (2015)
• First place in the National Clarinet and Saxophone Competition “Clarisax” Medellín (2016)
• Second place in the “Semana del saxofón de Manizales 2016”
• Second place in the Bellas Artes Cali International Saxophone Competition and award for best interpretation of Latin American works (2017)
• First place in the Pereira Sax Sun Fest (2017) Saxophone Contest
• Mejor instrumentalist at the National Tibacuy Band Competition (2018)
• First place in the Juan Colon Merengue Contest (2018)
• Winner of the Soloists Competition at Universidad Javeriana (2018)
• First place in the Chamber Music Competition “Camareando 2019” with NPVG Ensamble
• Musician of the Salesiana del Niño Jesús Symphonic Band from Bogotá, with whom he toured Europe in 2017, obtaining second place in the International Bands Contest in Valencia (Spain) and the highest version at the WMC Kerkrade, in the Netherlands.
