Elias Coutinho
Music has always been present in the life of Elias Coutinho. Born in the state of Pará - in the north of the country, at the age of six he had contact with music through the conductor of the music band of his church - Assembly of God - and his first contact with the saxophone was at nine. Shortly afterwards, he attended the Carlos Gomes Conservatory, in Belém / PA, for four years in the basic course with saxophonist Harley Bichara, where he later served as a teacher.
He studied BA in classical saxophone, at the State University of Pará (UEPA), completing it in 2008, with the renowned saxophonist, Dilson Florêncio as his teacher. It was the beginning of his academic trajectory, taking classes with great names of Brazilian popular music, among them: Ademir Júnior (DF) and Paulo Levi (PA), in addition to internationally recognized saxophonists, among them Alex Terrier, Parisian saxophonist who resides in U.S.
Despite the erudite formation, Elias Coutinho always had his musical life linked to popular music, where he obtained training on the internet, through video lessons sites, such as the American saxophonist Bob Reynolds and the aforementioned Alex Terrier. Elias has participated in several instrumental music festivals in Brazil and abroad with his authorial work, which he has been developing over the years. In the state of Pará, he has accompanied several artists from various segments and different musical backgrounds, and has his signature in DVD arrangements by artists of national renown.
Since the end of 2013, Elias Coutinho has developed a work to disseminate the teaching of musical improvisation and saxophone online, through his channel on Youtube and other social network, where he has videos that are mentioned as the first online, in Portuguese, talking about techniques like Half Tongue and Slap Tongue, which previously were only found in videos of other languages. In addition to working on sociais networks, Elias Coutinho has a teaching platform that today has more than a thousand students from practically all Brazilian states and many musicians from other countries.
Currently, he dedicates himself to his projects on sociais networks and to his first authorial record that begins to be pre-produced. All stages from conception to the entire recording and finalization process will be followed by the musician's sociais networks. The idea is to bring together the general public that follows him on sociais networks, with the music that will be produced.
