Márcio Rangel

He began to study music at 9 years old and already at 13 years old, playing sweet flute and percussion, he joined the musical group of the Brasil Soka Gakkai Association (BSGI) in Rio de Janeiro. At 16, back in Rio and the band BSGI, had his first contact with the sax, initially in tenor. joined BSGI bands in Rio, Sao Paulo, Sao Jose dos Campos, Brasilia and Curitiba for 27 years, with the last 15 as technical manager and arranger.

From 1981 to 1983 he played tenor sax and studied music in the military bands of CMRJ and CMB. From 1988, parallel to the Faculty of Architecture, studied at Musiart in Rio de Janeiro and during the 90s began studies of arrangement and composition. At this time recorded an album of Forró with the White Wing Band where wrote the arrangements of the suit of metal.

He started giving private sax lessons and participated in various bands playing and recording different styles with both tenor sax, alto and soprano. From 2000 to 2004 he studied arrangement and practice of orchestra at the Curitiba MPB Conservatory. At this time he joined Soulution Orchestra as arranger and playing baritone and tenor.

In 2002, General Coordination of the Curiba BSGI music band was created to found an Orchestral Formation Center which, since 2012, belongs to OFBHI (Ikeda Humanist Philharmonic Orchestra).

Where today he acts as technical manager, arranger and clarinetist of the Curitiba core. In 2005 he set up the band Big Time, playing tenor and writing the arrangements. In activity to date, Big Time has a career that has yielded over 500 shows throughout Brazil, South American countries, as well as tours to Japan and the United States, participating in major events such as the Brazilian Culture Festival in Portland - USA, Buzios Jazz & Blues, Bourbon Festival Paraty and Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues - RJ, Campos Jazz Fest and Guarujazz & Blues - SP, National Apple Party - São Joaquim - SC, Joinville Dance Festival - SC, Garanhuns - PE and Guaramiranga - CE Jazz & Blues Festival.

For two had the privilege of opening the show of the blues king B.B. King in Brazil. In addition to expressive broadcasts in more than 40 programs on Brazilian TV, such as, Jo Soares, Raul Gil, Hebe Camargo, Faustão, Amaury Jr., Otavio Mesquita, Ronnie Von, among others. With Big Time participated and produced 2 DVDs and 4 CDs, being the last recorded in the USA.

Passionate about sax and music in general see no style boundaries. He believes that what matters is the musician's heart in wanting to touch the listener's heart.
